LED Light Bulbs: The Advantages of LED Lighting
LED light bulb technology has come a long way in the recent years. LED (light-emitting diode) bulbs have always been used for various purposes and found inside many types of devices, but the technology was too expensive for practical use for a long time. More recently, because production costs have gone down, we have begun to see LED light bulbs used as energy-efficient and cost-effective replacements for more traditional incandescent lighting. Light-emitting diodes are basically very small light bulbs that are easily incorporated into electrical circuitry to give off light from a semi-conductor. However, they don’t contain the slender filament that quickly burns out and easily breaks that’s found in regular incandescent light bulbs. LEDs also don’t emit nearly as much heat as incandescent light bulbs. LED light bulbs produce brilliant light and offer longer life with using far less energy. While LED light bulbs may be more expensive than incandescent lights up front, their lower cost in the long run can make them a better buy. LED light bulbs are long lasting and extremely rugged. They don’t have a filament that will burn out, so they last much longer. Plus, because they don’t generate much heat, their small plastic bulb makes them a lot more durable. For example a small LED flashlight bulb will last 10 – 15X longer than an incandescent light bulb and will not break when dropped. The use of LED Light bulbs has brought many opportunities around the globe to use lighting as a more energy efficient and cost effective solution.
