Every year on Christmas Eve, the town of Downingtown Pennsylvania lines its streets with luminary bags, adding that magical glow so closely associated with the holiday season. Back in 1989, entrepreneurs assisting the local Historical Society with this event came up with a way to improve upon the cumbersome, messy, sand-filled luminarias being used. Their bright idea turned into the LumaBase. It quickly became clear how much more convenient these new luminarias were, and JHSpecialties, Inc. was formed. Enthusiasm for the LumaBase spread quickly and expansion was the obvious next step.
